Stress. Stop it in the workplace and life.

In the UK around 1 in 7 people are suffering from stress in the workplace. Statistics from the Health and Safety Executive show that the total number of working days lost in 2014/15 was 9.9 million, this equates to an average of 23 days per case.

The key causes of stress include workload pressures, tight deadlines, too much responsibility and a lack of managerial support.

Common signs of stress and anxiety.

Stress and anxiety can manifest itself differently for everyone but some common signs of stress and anxiety are: racing heartbeat, shortness of breadth, chest tightness, butterflies in the stomach, nausea, panic attacks, emotional eating, insomnia, dry mouth and sweating.

Psychological signs of stress.

The psychological signs of stress and anxiety include: agitation, irritability, lack of focus/concentration, a feeling of being out of control, feeling tense and fears of things happening.

Some other causes of stress.

As well as stress in the workplace stress can appear in other areas of life such as when taking exams, attending an interview, public speaking or making a presentation to a small group of people, fear of flying and competitive sport.
