Have you ever asked yourself what you are really good at?
I would suggest that you will be an expert at this.
An expert at filling your time and mind with noise and distraction.
Waking up to the sound of the radio alarm. Listening to the radio or watching the television while having breakfast. Jumping into your car and listening to the negative news and traffic reports on the radio. Arriving at work to spend the next eight hours with things to do, meetings to attend, people to meet, people to ring. Then grabbing a sandwich to eat at your desk or at a coffee shop with a wi-fi signal so you can catch up on your email or the many social media platforms you have signed up too. Doing all this and not even really tasting what you have eaten for lunch!
Arriving home to eat dinner while once agin watching the television. Listening to more negative news or watching someone else’s life unfold in the latest soap. Doing all this while once more checking the latest notifications on the phone or tablet.
Then at the end of the day one more final check of the email and social media platforms just in case you have missed that important notification from someone you know who has just checked in to a Premier Lodge and enjoyed their evening meal.
Finally leaving your phone by the bedside with the alarm set all ready for a another day.
After a day like this is there any wonder we wake up feeling tired and stressed.
Living our lives this way means that we are not in control of our thoughts. We are not in control of lives.
The importance of silence.
If we loose the importance of silence even for just 15 minutes a day we continue to live life determined by circumstances rather than what we would like to do. The French mathematician Blaise Pascal wrote ‘All man’s miseries derive from not being able to sit quietly in a room alone’.
Making some time for you to just sit quietly will make a massive difference to your life.
Time to clear your mind. Time to clarify your thought. Time to see your life’s meaning and purpose.
Once I realised the power of meditation my life changed.
Every day I take just 15 minutes to sit quietly, relax and clear my mind.
After just 15 minutes I feel rejuvenated, ready to make the most of my day. Meditation will help all aspects of your life.
Become an optimist rather than a pessimist.
Start to live your life rather than life living you.
